ITINERARY
• DAY ONE
Depart from your home area in the morning and travel to Sheffield to arrive late afternoon at the Mercure Kenwood Hall Hotel. 4-night stay – dinner, bed & breakfast.
• DAY TWO
This morning we travel to Doncaster for our visit to the delightful Brodsworth Hall. Explore the changing fortunes of a wealthy Victorian family and their servants. We will see the Grand Drawing Room, Billiard room, family bedrooms, and Victorian Kitchen, all featuring memorabilia from bygone times.
In the afternoon, we return to Sheffield to enjoy some free time at your leisure. Perhaps visit the botanical gardens, featuring a Grade 2 Glass Pavilion that houses a wonderful collection of plants from the temperate areas of the world. Or explore some of the many museums and attractions in the city centre.
• DAY THREE
This morning we start with a drive to Chesterfield – home to the famous Crooked Spire of St Mary’s Church. How did it happen? In the afternoon, we travel to Hardwick Hall and Gardens – one of the finest Elizabethan buildings in the country.
• DAY FOUR
Today we head into the Peak District on a scenic drive to the picturesque market town of Bakewell. We will take a break and you can visit the original Bakewell Tart or Pudding, to give it its proper name. From here we move on to Buxton, with its pedestrianised main street, delightful gardens, and magnificent historic buildings.
This afternoon, we travel to Lyme House and Gardens located on the edge of the Peak District. The gardens contain a Rose Garden, Ravine Garden, and a lake which was the location where a certain Mr Darcy met Miss Bennet in the BBC production of ‘Pride and Prejudice’.
• DAY FIVE
After breakfast, we leave and begin our journey home.
